The bathroom is where some smart home upgrades deliver genuine value — particularly around safety, water detection and lighting. The options are more limited than other rooms, but the relevant ones are worth knowing.

Water leak detection

Bathrooms are one of the most common sources of household water damage. A water leak sensor placed near the toilet base, under the sink or next to the shower tray can catch a slow leak before it becomes a serious problem. What to avoid

Do not place any smart speaker or display in a bathroom unless it is specifically rated for bathroom use (IPX4 or higher). Most smart speakers are not water-resistant. Smart plugs are not waterproof — keep them away from sinks and wet areas.
